About Lou & Doris
Doris is a native of Tillar, Arkansas, where she attended the local grade and high school. Doris was active in sports; being tall, basketball was her favorite sport. Doris is the youngest of 8 siblings of significant age spread. Because of this Doris spent a lot of time living away from her parents. (Also, as a child she picked cotton in the fields! Not something she enjoyed.) Doris' current personal activities are reading, playing games on a computer (not a court!) and card playing (not poker!).
Lou is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He attended grade and high school there (Charles Darwin & Lane Technical HS) and also later attended Wright Junior College. He started working regularly at the age of 11 for $00.10/hour at a local drug store (prior to this he had the usual paper route).
Lou & Doris met while both were stationed at Ent AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Doris elected to leave her government service in the US Air Force after 3 years. Lou remained a member of the US Air Force for 6 years.
Doris' career work has been focused on providing Administrative Support to various companies and additionally over the past 12 years as a residential real estate agent.
Lou, afer leaving the Air Force (where he had been a Dental Specialist and Air Craft Radio Repairman) went back to school and after a bit also took full time employment with Bankers Life & Casualty as a medical insurance adjuster. Later, Lou joined Sperry Unysis as a field service computer repair engineer (the big ones that you could get inside of to repair them). After 30 years in the High Technology Field Service Business (12 years as a VP) I got out of this high stress business and semi retired. My wife asked me to support her real estate endeavor and I took that up as my profession.
Doris and I moved into Lake County Illinois from Chicago in 1976. Our daughter, Caryl was born in 1977 and our son, Michael, in 1984. Both graduated from Libertyville High School. Caryl graduated from Lake Forest College and is working in Northbrook. Michael choose to join the Army and is currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas having returned from Iraq just before Christmas. Doris and I have enjoyed living in Lake County even though most of the horse farms are now gone!
